Big McPhee Creek Geotechnical Coffey

Key Elements

Service: Geotechnical Drilling
Year: 2011
Client: Coffey

Engaged by Coffey Geotechnics, the project comprises the construction of a replacement road bridge across the Big McPhee Creek.  The site is located on the Great Northern Highway between Wyndham and Halls Creek.  The existing bridge across Big McPhee Creek is a single lane bridge, 60m long.

The existing bridge was damaged by floodwaters in the 2010/2011 wet season.  Traffic is currently diverted to a temporary floodway to the north of the bridge.

It is proposed to construct a new, two lane bridge to replace the existing damaged bridge.  Boreholes were drilled along the existing Great Northern Highway to the north and south of the creek, and also within the creek bed at the locations of the bridge piles.
