Hagstrom Drilling where engaged to provide geotechnical and environmental drilling services for a proposed APLNG site on Curtis Island Queensland by Bechtel and ConocoPhillips.
Involving both onshore and nearshore drilling, this twelve month project involved five drill rigs and associated support equipment to provide the drilling for various tests including groundwater monitoring boreholes, acid sulphate soil boring, pressuremeter testing, and test pits. Over 2000m nearshore drilling and over 2500m onshore drilling where safely and effeciently completed.
One of the considerable challenges was accessing drilling locations on the surrounding mud flats and this was acheived by the use of Dura Mats. The Dura Mats enabled us to constuct roads out to each borehole location to support the equipment required.
