Yandi Mine Site Geotechnical

Key Elements

Service: Geotechnical Drilling
Year: 2012
Client: Rio Tinto

Working with SGS Australia Pty Ltd for Rio Tinto on Rio Tinto’s Yandi Mine site near Newman, Western Australia the project involved completing a number of boreholes to be drilled to approximately 15m below ground surface using HQ diamond drilling and standard penetration tests or U63 push tube in-situ testing at approximately 3.0 intervals.

The project involved a number of challenges including the close proximity of the site to the existing active train line.  Client feedback was extermely positive on completion of the project given the challenges faced.
